A stick immersed in water
There I was sitting in shade, scratching my legs
And this guy comes along with parcels and all
He sure was going somewhere and I was curious
Where you off to, my man, I shouts at him
Off to take a dip in the holy Ganges, he says
Moneyed man, can do whatever he pleases
I can’t even get out of this place, if I want.
Do this one thing for me? I beg of the guy
Dip this stick in Ganga when you reach it
I can’t go there in this life time I think
And of course do please bring it back.
The guy laughs, familiar with my quirks
Takes the stick, and soon hastens away
What with one thing another and the family
I soon forgot this incident with the guy
But someone tells me the man is back now.
I remembered about the stick that was lost
And cut another one from the same bark near
I was sure the guy would come boasting by
And was ready with the stick, hid in a pond
With an attached trigger, just in case
The man came after a while, full of mirth
And said laughing, your stick went to heaven
I dipped it in the Ganges and down it goes.
I knew the guy threw it off some where
But showed genuine surprise, “Is that so?
He was bubbling, my man, would you believe it?
It sure happened because you are a sage
I smiled, saying; let us check if our water has one
Holding my hand up, I stepped on the trigger
And the stick just nicely flew into my hands
It is the same stick, is it? I asked cutely
The guy was glum, but couldn’t question me
He acted as if inspecting the stick, and said
Wow, may man, people, it is the same stick…….
And of course this is how legends are made.
really good one.. 🙂

Lovely of you to say so dearest Trisha.
But nevertheless it is true, I suffer from a lack of inspiration most of the time. Thats why I ask you sometimes to recommend me to muse 🙂

you act as my muse.. 🙂

That’s lovely, a person with infrequent inspiration acting as muse to a prolific writer 🙂

You are the one. I think it is the effect of some art tonic that you take daily. I can barely type in a dozen or of sentences per day 🙂

I might have to begin a novel to do that. I can write about the guys (and gals) at my work place, lots of interesting characters there. It is a cross section of the society. But they would probably murder me for that. . The stories have all dried up anyway 🙂

dearest sam,
i dont believe that the stories have dried up, you dont try…. something must be keeping you away from them.
talent just doesnot dries up.

Nothing other than the lack of time and the lack of ideas. I can write pretty hectic stuff, can take institutions and people to task. But that would not be a story. That would be social criticism.

your poems are far more powerful than mine, they have a strange music and melody in them ..
apart from their multitude of topics, you are genius.

Dearest Trisha,
The only genius I have is the luck to have good friends like you who say such beautiful things about me 🙂

i like it when you instantly agree with me… these are very good symptoms in a man 🙂
you know you are a very rare man.. men usually argue to no end to prove a woman wrong 😦

That is because those men take women to be more intelligent than themselves. I have no such misconceptions 😉
