On life and its vagaries

An Antidote to Hate

with 12 comments

Rhyme and reason are things I like the least! I don’t know why.  I have tried to get at them here….

This is an old and discarded version of a poem I wrote since, so some ideas could be the same, but it seem to rhyme a little and I haven’t had time to write anything new. So here it is!

An Antidote to Hate

When in hate (or in angry heat)

We tend to perform mighty neat

I had this strange and befuddled friend once

Who was off to save everyone so-at-once

She seems to have hated me from the very first

For saying ‘black with white, do so co-exist’

And was so deadly with her words (to say the least)

That it seemed as if she was reveling in a bloody feast

I just don’t know what precipitated it to this very night

Perhaps it comes out of some concealed angst

Who knows what a spinster has to suffer

In this heartless world and in her lonely bower

I tried to be sane with this flagrant friend

But had to give in to her hatred in the end

No wonder her poor and lonely soul so delights

In such strange moralistic and fanciful flights

What else has she really to look forward to

Than the black night of memory approaching through….

Thankfully she doesn’t have the sense to guess

This sad truth herself, that’s her one good self-defense

Hate is a deadly disease which once caught

Simmers within till it makes us naught

She and her buddies sure made hay while sun shined

And had the absolute thick skin to own it too, how kind!

“You are my inspiration” she blatantly used to confide

And was so certain that I was the very devil incarnate……

It sadly seems (I hate to own it) that her cavalier deeds

Have become inspiring to my stumbling poetic steeds

She is said to have a psychic insight to her fanciful fate

Of being harmed by me (of all people), oh it’s a sad state

All that while I was trying my hardest to be nice

To her who obviously had the soul of a raucous mice

I would not want to stand in the way of her date

With her destiny, to further that, I compose these in haste

Of course (to her) the world needed saving

From such as me who (eternally) is misbehaving

She was appointed high priestess at a quoted price

Being some fashion of a poetess, (not to be un-nice)

Or that’s what I think seeing her hatred flame

Without a good reason and a real cause to blame

    You are a good leader.
And I miss the group too.

    Chances are slim that I
