On life and its vagaries

with 4 comments

I am planning  to write  a few poems on the different moods and feelings that we have,  that is,  on a daily basis.  This is the first one.  I hope that I can keep up with the task!

Hatred is the purest of passions and let me tell you,

You can only supplement it, but never make it wilt

When it’s in the ascendancy, it obliterates all else-

But its object, yes it’s true, it can even efface you

Do you doubt it?  Well look inside this very moment and

Think of the one you hate- you feel that wring in the heart?

You catch that bitter touch on the tongue?  Sense that heat-

In the nostrils, discern that invisible strings that pull at your muscles?

Its hate, it’s in control, and its making your life force perform

To its tune, and frankly it is the greatest of all despots.

Once it touches someone, that power is never relinquished and

Even when it’s seemingly lying dormant, its gathering might

Oh you puritans, don’t dare deny it, for you are made with

The same stuff as all are made of, there were little new in-

Your  making and this is no invention on my part but the truth

Why dictate terms to others while you cringe ever within?

Who ever defeated an enemy by disregarding its strength?

And playing up to it without knowing they are being played?

Whoever scaled a wall by dreaming that it doesn’t exist?

Whoever was in love without knowing what hate is?

I know what hate is and what it can do, it can even lengthen

Your life, and could become a potion to keep you young

It can even create ‘binary’ dominions and keep itself alive

For all eternity, and it can speak in pure delirious terms

It can stalk us, it can put up a show of loving us while

Injecting its silent poison into our inflamed veins, it won’t

Balk at hurdles, it wouldn’t back down even if its host itself

Withers away in an internal hell and barely is alive anymore.

To sum up, hate is a nice feeling to have, we wouldn’t need

Other diversions to pass time, moreover, it keeps our

Senses alert, fans our inquisitiveness, and make us work

Like hell, this normally reaches to a feverish intensity as we fail.

  1. hi,

    hatred holds you tight
when you let it by your side,
Hatred makes you lose your cool
because you have become NO U,

you are the driver of your bus,
steer your car on the right path,
see beautiful views along the way,
let you free, be friendly and go to wonderful bay…

  2. Yours is a beautiful view
Than I can hope to pen
And it has an inner splendor
That comes with a charming heart
    Yet I praised hatred
    Only in reverse
    Strangely it has often made
    People fight on too!

    Thank you for being here,
You have made my heart light!
