On life and its vagaries

Light more light

with 2 comments

When I open a book now

I don’t any more see words

Nor ideas

Or feelings

All I see is something vague

Writhing to come out

It’s blacker than it’s white

It’s as if the letters

Have plotted together to obliterate meaning

Or life from it

And has placed an X ray plate for me to view

In their stead

It’s glossy

In a weird sort of way

It has forms that are indistinct

Faint scary shapes that are seamless

That move and intersperse with others

And takes over the background

To merge to an indefinite mass

Of nothing in particular

But are they real to look into

Are they transparent?

But where is the light to scan it?

As I raise my eyes from the book

The world is without light

All has gone dark

Where have the names and forms gone?

Where is all that is spectacular?

Is this why Goethe cried

“Light more light”

As he was going to seek the unknown
