On life and its vagaries

Rain in November

with 2 comments

The Rains that we receive in November is called the Thulavarsham, the rains in the month of Thulam by our Calender. These rains come at night mostly, and are strangely without thunder and lightening.  The nights are always cold. The days dull and lusterless.

Rain in November

A noon as dark as night

Comes stealing into our hearts

In the gray sky the gods have spit

Their pale sputum, cotton like

A trickle of saliva is seen out there

Hanging by its lonely thread

Rivers have gone in spate

And shutters too, up at dams

It’s the rain in November

Without the thunder clouds…….
